Hello,
Welcome to the very first email newsletter from Moe Notes. A warm greeting to the old friends who have always supported the Facebook page, and to the new friends who have just subscribed and joined our community.
The reason I started this newsletter is to build a deeper, more personal connection between us, away from the noise of social media. The Facebook page is for a wide audience, but this little space is exclusively for my "core supporters"—those who want to get closer to my thoughts. Here, I'll be sharing the small ideas that don't become long articles, my thoughts on books and films, and other behind-the-scenes moments.
This Week's Main Thought I've been thinking a lot about the concept of a "trap." A trap works because the bait looks too good to be true—a fast, easy, and cheap solution to a difficult problem. In a country like ours, where everyone is desperately looking for a way forward, we are particularly vulnerable to these kinds of promises. This is what pushed me to investigate the educational "pathways" being sold to students and parents back home.

"A school is a place that teaches you how to face the real world. It is not just a place to compete with books and pencils."
This week, I published what I believe is one of my most important articles yet. It is a deep-dive case study into the private "International Pathway" schools in Yangon. It explores how a system built on high demand and low investment, which preys on the anxieties of parents, ultimately fails to prepare students for the realities of a Western university education.
I break down their business model, the issues with faculty and curriculum, and the devastating "culture shock" a student faces when they arrive abroad, completely unprepared. This is a must-read for any parent or student considering this route.

- Watching: I have been binge-watching Acapulco on Apple TV+. In a world that feels dark and exhausting right now, this show is like a dose of pure sunshine. It’s a warm, funny, and incredibly optimistic bilingual comedy-drama about a young man chasing his dreams. I highly recommend it if you're feeling down.
- Eating: As an investment in my health and energy, I've been trying to eat more organic food. I have to recommend Riverford. They are a UK company that delivers incredible organic vegetable boxes straight from their farm. The quality is truly excellent and has made cooking for myself a real joy.
- Listening: I never thought I'd be a country music guy, but I've been listening to a lot of it lately. The storytelling is so honest, direct, and full of raw emotion. I recommend the Country Music Radio station on Apple Music.
Website Update & Future Plans
This week, I’ve completed a major update of my website, moenotes.com.
- All of my old posts from Facebook have been collected and organized on the site, making them easier to read and search.
- The website is now divided into three clear sections: Architecture, Film and Photo, and Writings, so you can easily find the topics you're most interested in. The posts are also available in both English and Burmese—read Moe Notes and improve your English or Burmese at the same time!
What's coming next? I plan to present my final-year university architecture portfolio as a complete Case Study. I'll be sharing the projects from each semester, my thought processes, and the lessons I learned in detail.
